Sonia Villiers 1 2018 WorkshopOverview: Release your creative genius and experiment with collage and colour, sunlight and shadows. In this workshop we will explore a different look at a Cambridge street scene, or Cambridge rivers, punting and colleges. Learn how to make vibrant marbled paper, and to combine it with sections of Cambridge maps and paint to create a truly original and recognisable work of art! Try different collage techniques and explore shape and tone to create form, depth and atmosphere.

Demonstrations will be interspersed with individual help and advice.

Materials to bring - A3 stretched paper or acrylic paper, scissors, acrylics, acrylic inks or watercolours, PVA, brushes, waterpot. Sonia will bring the marbling kit, along with spares of everything to borrow or buy, you can use her paints for no charge.

There will be photographs for you to work from, but please bring your own if you have a favourite scene.Sonia Villiers 2 2018 Workshop

Workshop cost: £30 for Members and Friends, £40 for Non-members. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided but please bring a packed lunch.

MA Fine Art Printmaking

My final exhibition for my Masters in Fine Art Printmaking from Cambridge School of Art starts this week.

Everyone is welcome to attend the Private Preview on Thursday 6 September from 5-8 pm then the exhibition continues every day until 13 September. 

On display will be Fine Art Printmaking, Film and Television Production, Fine Art, Illustration and Book Arts, Graphic Design and Typography and Computer Games Art Development. 

Cambridge School of Art is located behind Anglia Ruskin University, East Road, Cambridge. I will be invigilating only on certain days - please contact me directly if you would like me to show you around the exhibition.

The Community Hub, High Street Melbourn is a popular local venue which has a well lit cafe and a spacious exhibition area.  I will be there on Saturday 8 September from 11.30 until 2.00 pm, working on a painting and will be happy to chat with anyone interested in my techniques, or just wanting to say hello.

CDS member Sarah Warnes is holding a solo exhibition of her work at the gallery in the Black Horse pub and tea rooms in Dry Drayton near Cambridge. "Colour and Light" will include watercolours and felt paintings.

Colin Hayes exhibiting at the Picturecraft Gallery, Holt, North Norfolk

I am renting a panel at the popular Picturecraft Gallery in Holt to exhibit my landscapes in pastel of scenes along the North Norfolk coast from Burnham Market to Brancaster. They will be on display for almost a month, from May 11th to June 6th. Admission to the gallery is free, and all works will be for sale. Opening hours are Monday - Saturday 9am - 5pm (Thursday 9am - 1pm), closed on Sunday.

The Cambridge Drawing Society Spring Exhibition will be held again this year in The Pitt Building, Cambridge. The public exhibition will run from Saturday 14th April through to Saturday 21st April 2018. Over 400 original works will be exhibited, which will include Paintings, Drawings, Prints and Sculpture.

John Glover will be holding ten weekly painting and drawing classes in Grantchester village hall on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 - 12.30, starting on 10th April through to 12th June. There will be no break for half term.

This will be a general drawing and painting class where students work on their own subject in whatever medium they wish.

If there is sufficient demand, John will be happy to arrange one class per term dedicated to either portrait or life. The cost of the model would be shared among those students wishing to participate.

The cost of the 10 week class will be £120
