Anthony Mashman

Woodland Light

Anthony lives in Cambridgeshire.  He has always enjoyed painting  and has been able to spend more time, in recent years, progressing with the unique medium of watercolour.

He is inspired by scenes bathed in sunlight and shade and is interested in depicting these light qualities in his paintings. He hopes his work captures the wonders of our world, resonates with the viewer and is uplifting. Anthony has been influenced by other artists’ works in particular, the watercolour landscapes of Ian Sidaway RI.

For some years, Anthony specialized in architectural scenes and had work shown, 'Gymnasium at Sardis', at the Mall Galleries as a finalist in the Singer & Friedlander Sunday Times Competition in 1999. More recently, he was given the Tindalls Prize, for 'Amphitheatre at Pompei', at the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists (SEAW) Selected Exhibition in 2016.

He now pursues  landscape and seascape painting and was awarded the Royal Watercolour Society  President’s Award, for 'Summer Meadow', at the SEAW Selected Exhibition in 2017.

Anthony is a qualified teacher and taught  Art, Design and Graphics. He worked for periods, as a graphic artist and designer, earlier in his life.

He exhibits work with the Cambridge Drawing Society and the SEAW. In 2019, Looking Out To Sea was voted Best In Show at the SEAW Exhibition at Wells-Next-The Sea.
