ANTHONY MASHMAN

For some years, Anthony specialized in painting watercolour architectural scenes.

He was a finalist in the Singer & Friedlander Sunday Times Watercolour Competition in 1999 and his painting, ‘Gymnasium at Sardis’, inspired by a holiday in Turkey, was exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London, The Sculpture Gallery, Manchester and Phillips, Leeds.

 Anthony became a member of the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists (SEAW) in 2016 and is now on the Society’s Committee. He was elected as a member of the Cambridge Drawing Society in 2017.

More recently, he was awarded  the Tindalls Prize, for ‘Amphitheatre at Pompei’,  at the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists (SEAW) Selected Exhibition in 2016.

Anthony now pursues  landscape and seascape painting and was awarded the Royal Watercolour Society President’s Award, for ’Summer Meadow’, at the SEAW Selected Exhibition in 2017.

In 2019, the watercolour ‘Looking Out To Sea’ inspired by the North Norfolk coast, was voted Best In Show at the SEAW Exhibition at Wells-Next-The Sea.

Anthony’s painting ‘ Winter Glow’ was accepted by the Society of Graphic Fine Art for their Open Exhibition at the Mall Galleries  for the Summer 2020. The exhibition may go online or be postponed until the Autumn.

Anthony completed Art & Design training followed by Education courses, qualified as a secondary teacher and taught  Art, Craft, Design, Technology and Graphics for many years. He also worked for periods, as a graphic artist and designer.

He mainly exhibits and sells his paintings at the SEAW and Cambridge Drawing Society exhibitions, at shows at the Dolby Gallery in Oundle, Northamptonshire, at local venues and in his online shop with Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/AnthonyMashmanArt

Artist’s Statement

Anthony is inspired by scenes bathed in sunlight and shade and is interested in depicting these light qualities in his paintings. He hopes his work captures the wonders of our world, resonates with the viewer and is uplifting. Anthony has been influenced by other artists’ works in particular, the watercolour landscapes of Ian Sidaway RI.
