Chris Lockwood
Ever since I can remember I have always loved messing around with paints. My art training was at Chester College of Art and Nottingham Trent University where I gained a BA hons degree in printed textile design. For many years I ran my own fabric design business in the centre of Nottingham, selling unique hand printed clothes and furnishings.
My studio, in a village just outside Cambridge, is a light sunny garden room where I can concentrate on my watercolour painting. I have a passion for colour and love letting the paint blend and fuse together on the paper giving that element of surprise. I love to paint landscapes, particularly rivers and coastlines in both watercolour and acrylics. I also enjoy painting flowers. You will often find me in the garden with a sketchpad or camera capturing the vibrant petals of poppies, hollyhocks or delphiniums.Inspiration is always around me.
My paintings can be seen in exhibitions around East Anglia.I am a member of Cambridge Drawing Society,Cambridge District Art Circle, the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists and Cambridge Open Studios.
I teach watercolour painting to adults and regularly hold workshops in my studio.
