Pastels and charcoal

Drawing the human body has always interested me.  I initially studied fashion design (1989-1994), where the drawing of the human figure was largely explored and stylised.  Later on in life I obtained an NHC in fine art (2003- 2006) and I attended various life drawing classes which strongly contributed to develop my interest for this subject.

I believe that above all the human body is more sophisticated than any other subject matter.  I am intrigued about the its shapes and forms.  I like to capture the movement, the immediacy of life, as life is never still but continuously changing.  I try to show the dynamisms by using foreshortening poses, angular and dry shapes and a sketchy use of pastel.   I lately developed an interest in portraiture; the same style applies to this subject matters, where psychological introspection and every day scenes are explored.
