Jo Tunmer

Visual Artist
Oil, Solarplate, Woodcut
59 Highworth Ave, Cambridge

I grew up in London and thrive on the anonymity and comparative privacy that living in a city offers.  In response to my urban surroundings I creates hand-pulled solarplate etchings of views of the city that often focus on a solitary figure. In comparison, my oil paintings express a romantic, utopian notion of the land.

Since 2013 I have focussed on printmaking. In 2018, alongside running my art practice, I completed a Master’s Degree with distinction in Fine Art Printmaking from Anglia Ruskin University. This period of study enabled me to experiment further with wood cut printmaking techniques and fine art installation.urban surroundings I creates hand-pulled solarplate etchings of views of the city that often focus on a solitary figure. In comparison, my oil paintings express a romantic, utopian notion of the land.

I originally trained in Interior Design and Furnishing Textiles, before pursuing a career within the corporate sector. Returning to the arts in the millennium I have been a self-employed professional Visual Artist for more than a decade.  Alongside my practice I am an Artist Facilitator at Kettle's Yard, teach oil painting and printmaking privately and mentors students studying for GCSE and A level Art exams.

Commissioned work includes many pieces for Addenbrooke's Arts, Cambridge, and more recently a print commission for the new Cambridge Building Society central offices.
