I am a retired reception class teacher and a late-comer to the practice of art.  My enjoyment of doing art of all kinds with children is one of the things that influenced me to take it up for myself.   I’ve always loved textiles and started weaving as a hobby decades ago, but only began to paint, draw and print after retiring.

I was introduced to printing in Niki Chandler’s classes and it’s become my favourite medium.  I love the way it enables me to explore shape, texture, pattern and variation, and I love the way it can surprise!  I’m inspired by the shapes of pots and by textiles, particularly tribal rugs, weaving from South America and Asia, and the quilts of Gee’s Bend.  I was fortunate to live in Chile for five years and the Andes and landscapes of the Atacama Desert have left a lasting impression.  Their shapes and colours often find their way into my work.
