Binnie Macellari
My work is focused on the changing seasons in land and seascapes, with a strong emphasis on light and colour harmony to express mood and place. In this I am influenced by my life in Argentina, where I was born and lived before coming to Cambridge. I work from sketches done outdoors, from photos, memories and scenery which has impacted me. My paintings are of varied sizes, and are a combination of realist and abstract. I enjoy experimenting with different media and methods.
Having completed an Art History degree where I learnt about the techniques of artists through the ages, I took up painting and continue to attend courses: by Lewis Noble, by Emily Ball, and some years ago I attended a longer course by Tony Rothon and Sarah Nutley at Audley End. I also took a printmaking course at Curwen Press.
I have exhibited in Sardinia and Ireland, and with Cambridge Open Studios. I show work on Instagram, and am working on my own website.
