Gill Taylor

Gill is inspired by the quiet of the natural world – walks at Wicken Fen, tree-lined walks and wooded areas found locally and in Scotland.

She has always loved drawing and works predominantly in charcoal  – a medium which suits her interest in the patterns of light and shadow across the landscape. She enjoys the wide range of abstract  mark-making that can be found with a single stick of charcoal.

She sometimes uses acrylic inks and pastels. More recent work in acrylic paints, although much smaller in size, still shows her interest in these quiet, empty spaces patterned by shadows.

Gill originally graduated with a degree in printmaking from the West Surrey college of Art & design and, in the past, has spent time teaching adults with a wide range of abilities.

Gill exhibits regularly with the Cambridge Drawing Society and Huntingdonshire Art group.
