Lorraine Brown
My art practice is a fusion of painting, collage and photography. I am inspired by weathered buildings, architecture and the plants and vegetation that grow alongside.
In the studio I explore these themes by layering paint and mark-making with a variety of collage papers, including old book pages, hand-written letters and my photographic prints. I enjoy the freedom mixed media offers, together with the intrigue created when combining abstraction with figurative elements.
Since graduating in Fine Art at ARU in 2012, I have participated in Cambridge Open Studios and exhibited regularly with Cambridge Drawing Society and local galleries. In 2016 I was commissioned by Wetherspoons to create two large artworks for a new premises in Huntingdon. In 2020 three of my artworks were selected for the National ING Discerning Eye Exhibition.
