Sam Motherwell

A long-term member of CDS since 1976, Sam has worked chiefly in a graphic style, charcoal, pen and ink and linocuts. Colour has been sometimes sparingly added by collage and pastel. Subjects have been Mill Road and its neighbourhood observed over 50 years, Cambridge, travels abroad, and musicians. He published two linocut books ‘Mill Road Stories’ and ‘Shipping Forecast’. His preferred method is to draw on-the-spot, with the least amount of amendment in the studio.
